BEGINNING - INTERMEDIATE Oil and Acrylic Painting at Johns Creek Arts Center
Mondays 7-9:30pm
Students will learn to create a painting from concept to completion in oil or acrylic media. We will focus on proper planning prior to starting a painting, as well as, basic layering and blending techniques, color mixing, handling the brush and more. Students will work at their own pace in a relaxed and supportive setting. Each session will feature 3 instructor demonstrations of beginning-intermediate painting techniques. Because everyone's needs are different, supplies will be discussed during the first class. New students, bring your sketch pad and your ideas. Returning students, bring your current painting and materials.

INTERMEDIATE - ADVANCED Oil and Acrylic Painting at Johns Creek Arts Center
TUESDAYS 7:30-10PM
Students will be encouraged to go the extra mile with preliminary drawings and color studies while working on their own paintings.  Work at your own pace in a relaxed and supportive atmosphere. Each session features 3 instructor demonstrations of advanced painting techniques. This class will delve deeper into color theory, mixing, and application, as well as, composition and design strategies. Because everyone's needs are different, supplies will be discussed during the first class. New students, bring your sketch pad and your ideas. Returning students, bring your current painting and materials.

Teen Painting and Independent Study at Johns Creek Arts Center
Thursdays 7-9pm
This is the ideal class for teens who are serious about developing their own unique style in their artwork.  Students will have the option to work with acrylic painting, watercolor, charcoal, pen and ink, or mixed media as they work to explore their own artistic vision.  Students will work at their own pace in a relaxed and supportive atmosphere. We will create up to two pieces using a detailed process that will include composition studies, shooting and or finding reference photos, creating a detailed line drawing of our subject, and color studies prior to beginning the finished piece.  We will address many drawing and painting techniques such as color usage and mixing, shading and value, brushwork and application, and other basic elements and principles of design.  Our first class will be dedicated to media exploration and concept development. Supplies included.
